Despite the turmoil the economy seems to be in within the UK, we seem to be doing OK. Perhaps our customers recognise that we offer great value for unbelievably low prices. Well, we do try anyway. We have continued to offer mainly bedroom furniture in a period style with French influence.

Just in, proving very popular, is one of our Bergere beds with a raised headboard height. This makes it more visible with all the pillows and bedding in place, and well, looks absolutely fab. But we would say that wouldn't we? Kidding aside though, this is a really pretty bed at an even prettier price.

Monty now on Face Book but not for sale

One of our Shetland ponies recently made it onto Face Book. Monty, who is about 26 years old (young for a Shetland) suffers from sweet itch in the summer. So to protect him from the flies each summer we buy him a new coat designed for this purpose. He is modelling this years version, and we think he looks rather cute. Unfortunately, a copy of this has made it to Face Book, where someone has described him as looking like a member of the Klu Klux Klan! We disagree of course. Unlike our fabulous furniture, Monty is not for sale at any price.

Ordering on-line from work

A recent report out suggests that we spend on average 2 days out of our working year shopping online from our workplace. The time is used for a variety of reasons including the relief of boredom! We don't think boredom has anything to do with the time spent buying our furniture from work. Its Snow Joke...

The snow has created havoc for most carriers around the UK over the last few weeks. Our own carriers have been no exception, out there battling with the elements to get our furniture to your door. We do have a small backlog of orders which we are working hard to despatch and hopefully will have caught up over the next couple of weeks.

The Recession is Over!

According to one or two news papers last week, it was announced that the recession is over. Well thats OK then. We can look forward to rising house prices and everyone threatened with redundancy must have somehow secured a job elsewhere, the banks must be back in the black and raw materials will start spiralling in price soon. It seems incredable to me too. The rubbish that is put out by the media, much as we try to ignore it, has us on a roller coaster of joy and dread on a weekly basis.

We have good news though. Sales still continue to grow, and our collection of furniture has new designs being added. With customer feedback just getting better and better, there has never been a better time to buy from us. Our prices have remained the same since we started some years ago, and we still trade on the same basis, from our own stock. This means that you won't have to hang around for weeks on end waiting for something to turn up. Recently in is a Rococo chest of four drawers, in a luscious antique gold. Quality Counts

With all the doom and gloom continuing, no wonder people need to cheer themselves up from time to time. We reckon that as in previous times of recession, that customers tend to start looking for quality rather than going for the fast paced buy it and chuck it a year later view that persists in the good times.

Luckily for us, we have never dealt in furniture that has an in built obsolescence such as some much larger companies seem to like to peddle these days. Our furniture is designed to last for years, so in the long run, it is low cost. Why keep buying furniture fo your house over and over again?

Just in are a collection of beds which shows completely what a good idea it is to buy something that is timeless and built to last. Well we would say that wouldn't we? Why not judge for yourself?

Recession, what recession?

I keep being asked how business is more than usual lately. I have to assume that the media has done a good job on all of us, and we are now looking for doom and gloom rather than finding it. Rather than have a rant at how they seem to be launching us into a downturn in trade and loss of the the so called feel good factor, I thought I would cheer everyone up by a offering a couple of fantastic French style beds at seriously good prices. And the reason before you ask, is we are not suffering a downturn in trade (it is actually up quite a lot this year), we just have too many of them in stock and no-where to put new shipments due to land on our doorstep in a months time. Carriers, breakages and XDP

We're not people that winge or complain much, but thought we should highlight a company that as carriers go offer a great service in demolition. So we thought that should our competitors want us to recommend someone that will break their stuff, XDP in Birmingham are definately worth a look. There are distinct phases to the way they work:

Break goods in transit
Deliver to customer
Collect from customer
Offer full compensation to supplier (us)
Keep supplier waiting for months while claims mount up
Deny all knowledge and send out to supplier (us) claim rejected form

The front man, James Bond (yes really!) is always polite, but not backed up at all by the company. We can only assume the ISO9001 is in its early self assessment phase. We have come across a number of other companies who have suffered losses at the hands of these expert carriers.

On a more positive note, we now have an excellent service, delivering all over the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium and Northern Italy. We will get your order there in about 14 working days. And as for breakages, well in the words of one of our very careful carriers, "furniture should be handled as you would a woman".

Beds on TV

We were very excited to have two of our beds selected, by ITV and a Living TV production team. These will be making their appearance during the Autumn. See if you can spot them... One is from our very popular Versailles french painted collection Louis bed, which will be used most weeks in a reality TV programme. This retails at £595

The other one - our imposing mahogany Victorian Gothic Bed is being used in a detective series later in 2007. This bed currently retails at just £495 on our website the Repro Furniture Company

Business as usual despite the floods

Although our warehouse was marooned on an island for a few days, business was unaffected. We still managed to get orders out, ferrying goods back to the van in a 4x4 - the offer of a tractor was made if needed.

One enterprising customer attempted a visit, but decided that they would come back when it was a bit drier! Our neighbour, an antique dealer, reported that he had ridden his bicycle under water while coming into work. The water had apparently risen to his handlebars, but he couldn't risk dismounting as he has his wallet and mobile phone in his pocket. The joys of summer....

Our TV appearance on Discovery Channel

Can we come and see you?

We are frequently asked if it is OK to come and see us to have a look at the furniture we supply. The answer is yes you can. You need to bear in mind that we don't have a traditional showroom and operate from a warehouse with all the furniture packed up and not displayed. We will go over the collection with you, and answer any questions you may have.

Is your furniture distressed?

Our furniture is not distressed, but this is an option you could consider. Don't go too far though. I heard a story today about a company distressing tables by beating them with chains. The effect was so authentic, the surface of the table was too uneven to stand a wine glass on!

Is our furniture as good as Bevan Funnel?

I would certainly like to think that our furniture will stand the quality test when compared with companies such as Bevan Funnel. It will certainly compliment pieces from this manufacturer which is of outstanding craftsmanship (I know, I used to sell this over 20 years ago!).
